Director - New Zealand School of Export

Rom is the Director and Co-Founder of the School and works at the highest international level including Board membership of several bodies such as IATTO and the Editorial Board of the Journal ’Philosophy of Management’.  His business experience has included the establishment of an international joint venture (JV) company and several other companies.  In 1996 he won the Financial Times' prestigious David Thomas Award for his development of education for entrepreneurship.

Rom's PhD was on the strategic management of internationalization and he has prepared and implemented strategic plans for many organizations.   He has worked in both the public and private sector including posts as Head of the Overseas Office at Newcastle Business School, University of Northumbria at Newcastle and as Director of Export Training Services Limited.

Rom has undertaken organizational development projects for several international bodies including the World Bank, European Commission and UK Know How Fund. Born in England, he is fluent in Polish and has lived and worked in many countries including England, France, Poland and New Zealan.  He has particular expertise in the UK and EU markets, as well as the former Soviet Union.

In his spare time he paints and is a member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.  His art works are in private and public collections including Higgins Construction and Vision Manawatu.

He is currently working on a new political economy that deals with the issues raised by the last 300 years of human history with a view to establishing a new way of being for human life in the future.  He has already presented several papers on this subject and is completing a book about it.

 

Head of Library and Information Services

Graeme Siddle MA Dip Tchg Dip NZLS Dip Arts (Religious Studies) RLIANZA Diploma of International Trade

Graeme is a professional librarian and an associate of the Library and Information Association of Aotearoa New Zealand (LIANZA).    After teaching in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, he completed post-graduate library studies.   This was followed by appointment to a position at the Hocken Library, University of Otago.

In Palmerston North he filled several positions at Massey University Library.  During his time as Head of College Liaison Services, he liaised with teaching and support staff of the College of Business.   This exposed him to the world of business and business people. 

Graeme has been employed at the New Zealand School of Export since it started in 2007.  As well as being Head of Library & Information Services, he is website manager and Personal Tutor for two of the Modules of the Diploma of International Trade.

For him completion of the Diploma has opened up a new way of looking at the world and knowledge.   He has set up the Exporters and TraLIS blogs to share and exploit this information.  He has a particular interest in New Zealand's links (including trade) with Japan and has basic Japanese language skills.

Graeme is passionate about finding the right information and encouraging effective use of it by everyone working in international trade.  In his free time, he sings with the Palmerston North Choral Society.

Marketing Director

Alison M. Vickers MBA DipM Dip MRS Dip PGCE(HE) Diploma of International Trade

Alison was born in England. Her practical experience in B2B (business to business) marketing was gained working for the UK Government's Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster, London, Lumley Castle, UNN, and Tyne & Wear Chamber of Commerce. She has been a Visiting Professor at Helsinki Business School and the University of Ankara, Turkey, as well as undertaking work for the British Council and the United Nations International Trade Centre in Geneva.

Her particular expertise is in marketing strategy and international marketing communications with a particular expertise in the service sector. She was formally the national marketing manager at Massey University with responsibility for market research projects; national marketing campaigns including TV and radio; production and management of a range of publications; and strengthening the 'Massey University brand'. She has travelled mainly in Europe and has a particular interest in trade with Australia.

Pierre Schindler, Mmgt (with Distinction) PGDip BusAdmin Dip of International Trade

Pierre Schindler

Pierre was born in Germany and studied economics there before undertaking postgraduate study at Massey University where he majored in international business. His research report was on global communities and knowledge management. He is fluent in German as well as English, and has a particular interest in trade with China and the European Union.

Pierre is currently employed full-time with Fonterra.

Administrator - Internship

Ariunaa Mendtsoo

Ariunaa was born in Archangai, Mongolia and arrived in New Zealand in 2006. Ariunaa has a Degree in Construction Engineering and in Public Management and worked in Mongolia for a Joint Venture - GTZ. She is fluent in Mongolian, English, Russian and German and is working part-time in administration and accounts at the New Zealand School of Export as part of the Ethnic Council's Migrant Internship Programme.   Ariunaa is now enrolled for the Diploma of International Trade.
